Police are appealing for a mother to come forward after the remains of a baby were found beside a footpath.
Detectives say the child may have been newborn and fear its mother may need medical and emotional support.
The body was discovered by a dog walker in undergrowth near Seafield Cemetery in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.
Police Scotland also want people to contact them if they know of any mother who was expecting and is not with their child now.
Detective Chief Inspector David McLaren said: ‘Obviously there is a mother out there who may be in need of medical assistance or emotional support.
