BIG BEAR, Calif. (KTLA) — Officials were working on Sunday to confirm the identity of a woman’s body discovered in the Baldwin Lake area of Big Bear, authorities said.
The body was found near where rescue crews were searching for a female hiker believed lost, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies in Big Bear had intensified the search on Friday for 59-year-old Karen Dalman, who disappeared during a hike with a friend.
Dalman was last seen around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, according to a statement from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station.
Dalman and a friend, Bruce Jackson, 56, drove to the area of Crystal Mountain near the Eye of God for a day hike, sheriff’s officials said.
They brought along Jackson’s dog, and at some point the dog got away and was running loose, Jackson told deputies.
