WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A man who allegedly pulled a gun at the West Valley City Police Dept. lobby is facing multiple felony charges.
Police say that on Monday, April 29, 39-year-old James Kammeyer walked into the lobby of the building, demanding to speak to an officer face-to-face.
When asked to remove his hands from his pocket, Kammeyer allegedly pulled a handgun out of his pocket and pointed it at a desk officer and records clerk. The officer retreated into the bulletproof glass enclosure and called for backup.
Police say that when other officers arrived, one of them fired multiple shots, hitting Kammeyer twice in his right arm. He was hospitalized then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple charges. No one else was injured.
