On April 21, 2003, Amanda Berry, 16, called her sister to tell her she was getting a ride home from work at Burger King on West 110th Street and Lorain Ave.
That’s the last time she was seen.
On April 2, 2004, Gina DeJesus,14, disappeared while walking home from school on Lorain Ave.
Searches and vigils have been held throughout the years to try and find the girls.
Monday, May 6, 2013, they were found on Seymour Ave., near W. 25th St., less than five miles from where they were last seen.
The last ten years were heartbreaking for Amanda’s family.
Amanda’s mother pleaded for the public’s help to bring her daughter home until her death in 2006.
It’s been agonizing for Gina’s family, too.
Every year since her disappearance, Gina’s mother and father have made pleas for information.
Her mother never lost hope.
