Sky boss named as father killed in Cornwall speedboat tragedy as witnesses describe ‘scene from horror film’


A high-ranking BSkyB executive has been named as the 51-year-old father killed in a speedboat crash in Padstow harbour in Cornwall yesterday.

Nicholas Milligan and his eight-year-old daughter, who has not yet been named, were killed while four other members of his family were airlifted from the scene – described by onlookers as ‘something like a horror film’.

The six family members, who were on holiday from London, were thrown from the out-of-control boat in the Camel Estuary and appear to have been injured by the propellers as the boat flipped over.

A 39-year-old woman, a four-year-old boy and two girls aged 10 and 12 were airlifted to Derriford hospital in Plymouth, where they are being treated for ‘a range of injuries, some of which are life changing’, police said.
