According to police, they received a bank robbery call at approximately 12:20 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. Bank on Peoria Street. At the same time an officer on patrol happened to be driving by and was flagged down by some witnesses to the robbery. He then spotted a car speeding away. He began following the car and a chase ensued.

The alleged robber drove into a residential neighborhood in the 12200 block of East Bates Circle. The street was a dead-end and the car crashed into some rocks. The suspect got out and tried to run. He apparently would not follow the officers’ commands and wouldn’t stop, so the officer fired his gun, hitting the suspect, but the suspect kept running. He was caught moments later.
