National Post | News

Toronto police believe they’ve found the man responsible for the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Kwado “Kojo” Mensah.

Sheldon Ashton Scrubb was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday. Police have also charged the 18-year-old Milton man with aggravated assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Mensah, a former football player on Mayor Rob Ford’s Don Bosco Eagles team, died from a gunshot wound to the chest on April 25.

Police were called to a housing complex at Morningside and Old Finch avenues after receiving calls about sounds of gunshots in the area. They said Mensah had already died when they arrived at the scene.

Ford paid tribute to Mensah at the beginning of his radio talk show on Sunday.

“He was truly a nice, polite young man. He never gave us any problems and he was a phenomenal football player,” Ford said. “He will be missed.”
