STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The investigation continues in the Steubenville rape case.
Tuesday, a grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing testimony on whether other laws were broken in the case of a 16-year-old girl raped by two Steubenville football players last August.
Attorney General Mike DeWine called for the extended investigation immediately following the March 17 verdicts against the two students.
Critics have accused community leaders of trying to paper over rampant misconduct by players of the local high school football team and have suggested that other students took part in the assaults or failed to do enough to stop them.
Recommendations are not expected for several weeks.
