Vernon Police have hit a wall in their investigation into the discovery of skeletal remains near West Street.
Vernon Police Lieutenant William Meier says investigators have ruled out three women who went missing, in cases dating back to the 1970’s.
Their names were Lisa White, Janice Pockett or Debra Spickler.
State and local police, and investigators from the Connecticut Forensic Lab entered DNA into the Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS. Because DNA from the remains were entered into the system, they will automatically be checked against any future entries into the system.
Meier says police will continue to work with other agencies, and will sift through town records to see if they elicit any clues.
It still has not been determined how long the remains were in the wooded area off West Street.
